  • The development of well objectives and defining key uncertainties in conjunction with multi-disciplined Well Team

  • Performing detailed independent offset data reviews and carrying out preliminary pore  pressure / fracture gradient analysis

  • The generation and evaluation of initial well design concepts from both a technical and economic perspective, ensuring well designs and development options meet the Asset objectives

  • Presenting technical and economic evaluations of well design concepts to Asset Management

  • Optimisation of drilling rig schedule to ensure a ‘strategic fit’ with the Asset’s business objectives

  • The development and preparation of both ‘field’ specific and ‘well’ specific ‘Basis of Design’ and ‘Well Design Philosophy’  documents.

  • Performing  platform placement optimisation studies to compliment Field Development strategy

  • Providing accurate AFE quality cost estimates (risked) and budgetary cost proposals

  • Conducting all aspects of detailed well design including;

    • Thermo-dynamic modelling of drilling & production operations to facilitate full tri-axial stress analysis of proposed casing and tubing design;

    • Wellhead growth; surge/swab analysis; torque/drag analysis; annulus fluid expansion; casing design and completion design.; and

    • Development and optimisation of directional well profiles

  • The preparation and submission of all Government permits and exemptions to ensure regulatory compliance

  • The development and preparation of ‘Operational Programmes’

  • Management of the drilling and completion contracting and procurement process to ensure timely delivery of all equipment and services

  • Championing the implementation of new technology and innovation throughout the design and planning process

  • Co-ordination of third party vendors and contractor expertise
